Snipe on a Fencepost

Wilson's Snipe, Gallinago delicata

This evening I saw a bird standing on a fence post alongside the road. At first I thought it was a Western Meadowlark, but it just didn't look right. When I put my binoculars up to my eyes I was astounded that I was looking at a Wilson's Snipe! I guess the snipe was tired of walking around in the marsh grass, and decided to get up on that post and have a look around.
